Toshiro Mifune is about to be released in DVD, by Criterion, no less! Though not as familiar to the ear as
Seven Samurai or
Rashomon,
The Hidden Fortress has a distinction that no other Kurosawa film has. It's been widely accepted, and admitted by
George Lucas himself, that
The Hidden Fortress was what inspired
Star Wars. In fact, the DVD will contain an exclusive interview with George Lucas as he talks about the film. I got my order with Amazon all set up and I can't wait to finally see it.
